Dream Factory

Building Dreams Together

Using funds raised at our annual Taste of Autumn dinner and auction, we are proud to support the innovative partnership between Community Living Dufferin and Theatre Orangeville

A keystone of the partnership is the development of a groundbreaking new program of drama classes for people with developmental disabilities, a concept endorsed by the provincial government through a grant of $25,000 from the Ministry of Culture. The program will focus on confidence building, improved communication skills, the development of social skills and improvement in quality of life. Vital to the success of the new partnership is the construction of a new building to house Community Living Dufferin’s non-residential programs and most Theatre Orangeville’s off-stage operations. The new building will also be available for use by a wide range of community groups, bringing people together and opening a world of possibilities.

Rotary Theme for 2008-2009 is "Make Dreams Real"

"In 2008-09, I will ask you all to Make Dreams Real for the world's children," said Rotary International President-elect Dong Kurn Lee. "This will be our theme, and my challenge to all of you."

"Children are killed by illnesses that become deadly in combination with poor sanitation and malnutrition," Lee said. "In addition, families stricken by extreme poverty are trapped in a cycle that only leads to more unnecessary deaths. It's a cycle that is not interrupted because there is no access to education."

He challenged us all to give children "hope and a chance at a future" by reducing the rate of child mortality in the world. "In 2008-09, Rotarians will be asked to open their eyes to the needs of children in communities near and far", Lee said. "If every one of us does this, at the end of our year, we will all have achieved something wonderful."
